Egypt First Official Fashion Week: Showcasing Past, Present, and Future

Egypt Fashion and Design Council has recently announced that it will hold its first-ever Fashion Week in May. The event will begin on May 12 at the Cairo Egyptian Museum, featuring the works of renowned Egyptian fashion designers. The country’s rich culture has always been an inspiration for international fashion. The houses like Chanel, Zuhair Murad, and Elie the Saab, so it’s the perfect time to organize their own Fashion Week. The theme for this inaugural event is “Past, Present, and Future,” representing the country’s heritage, current situation, and aspirations.

According to one of the Council’s founders, the event’s theme reflects the importance of the Egyptian culture and heritage as a source of inspiration for local designers. By using traditional materials and designs, they can create innovative and modern collections that reflect both the past and present of their country. The event aims to encourage people to buy local products, fabrics, and styles rather than importing them from other countries. Especially during the current difficult economic situation. 

The Council believes that the Fashion Week will promote Egyptian designers and offer high-quality resources to consumers. The event aims to become a platform for local designers to showcase their talents, inspire creativity, and encourage innovation. By inviting Egyptian designers living in Egypt and overseas to apply for the events. This Council hopes to establish itself as a top fashion country in its own right. 

An organizing committee has scheduled the first edition of the Official Egypt Fashion Week to take place from May 12 to May 15, 2023.
